Electro forming is a way of casting through currents and voltages. I will be casting little rubber toy/figurines, which are creatures from under the sea.
Felieke Van Der Leest is my influence to this piece, I will create a charm necklace, using animals, repetition and colour, just as he does.
To add my own twist, I will add enamelled domes, because I want the piece to be bold, large scale, full of colour and have some depth to it. I will be enamelling them in blue tones, to represent bubbles, keeping to the 'under the sea' theme. I will also be adding rubber figurines that haven't been cast, to add more colour, more texture and a bit of fun!

Wax carving
Carving out of wax was sort of easier than I thought it would be, but at the same time harder. It's such a relief to saw wax after sawing metal all the time, but it's difficult in the sense of measurements and sticking to them! Making a ring consists of a lot more thinking and concentrating and following the lines precisely (not saying that this isn't how it should be during metal). But as we will be using the wax to cast, it needs to be perfect, so that there is less work on the metal! I'm enjoying this project so far, lets hope it stays this way! My luck with casting isn't usually all that great!

My two attempts at carving a ring... |
Vermont.
These are a few photo collages of my time spent Vermont! Most of these are from skiing at a family resort, Bolton Valley, where we all stayed on the calm, easy, green slopes so that we could all get into the swing of it! Some of us went up further, and did a few black diamond slopes (I wasn't completely over the moon with this, but so glad I did it too). We also did a (very early) sunrise service ski at Stowe for free! (Usually it costs a $100). This was amazing to be (what it felt like) at the top of the world, to watch the sunrise, then ski down on slopes that no one had touched previously! Conditions weren't perfect but still amazing!
We visited a maple farm, where we got to taste freshly made (still warm) syrup! I've been there numerous times, but it still amazes me every time! My most favourite part is, going there always means getting a 'Creamy' whatever the weather (a maple syrup ice cream). The wood carvings always make me laugh too, they're so creepy!
And of course, we visited Ben and Jerry's, did the tour (for the millionth time, but again, still love it), had all the cheesy photos, spent a while in the shop and the best bit... Got the free sample of ice cream at the end!!!
A few photos are also of just the area, leaving to come back to Kansas, the lake, and well, trees!
Hope you enjoy them :)

Display case
Came back from Vermont to this! What a feeling. To have a final piece displayed is such a good feeling. Even if its just the hallway in the school you're studying at. It's still a little achievement and will always make me feel proud.
Photographs taken by Rob Havard and Lewys Canton up on the wall also.

Getting back in to the swing of things!
Got back in to the routine of Uni, sketchbook and things quicker than I thought! Ready for all the projects we have, in very little time! I am excited to work on the photo brooch as I have never worked with resin before! Here is a few images of my sketchbook, designs and ideas.

Update!
Had an incredibly busy week in Vermont! My week off with the family was exactly what I needed! Now early (ish) to bed and back to work tomorrow! In the lesson tomorrow evening, I will be catching up on my photo brooch which I worked on whilst I was away (so not a completely work free week!). More photos and such to come at the end of the week! Perhaps a VT collage tomorrow for all you guys to see!
